The militant group Islamic State, which has seized large areas of northern Iraq in recent months, has "carried out ethnic cleansing on a historic scale," according to a report released on Tuesday by the monitoring group Amnesty International.
In a new report, Amnesty International said Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants have abducted "hundreds, if not thousands" of women and children who belong to the ancient Yazidi faith. The extremists also have rounded up Yazidi men and boys before killing them, the London-based group said.
The 26-page report adds to a growing body of evidence outlining the scope and extent of the Islamic State group's crimes since it began its sweep from Syria across neighbouring Iraq in June.
The militants have since seized much of northern and western Iraq, and have stretched as far as the outskirts of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
ISIS has declared a cross-border caliphate and driving hundreds of thousands from their homes. At least 1,420 people were killed in Iraq in August alone, U.N. figures showed Monday.
The United Nations already has a 42-person team monitoring human rights in Iraq, working from Baghdad and other cities. But officials said the human rights council will now send an 11-person team that will operate separately, focusing on abuses arising from the behavior of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the Sunni extremist group that has seized parts of northern Iraq and has boasted about its brutalities against nonbelievers.
Amnesty interviewed hundreds of witnesses and survivors, gathering evidence showing that several mass killings took place in Sinjar in August.
Isis systematically divided the villages' men and boys, some as young as 12, from the women and younger children, taking the men and boys in pick-up trucks to the outskirts of the villages and shooting them dead.
The Islamic State group, distribute 300 girls and women from Yezidis minority, who abducted in Iraq several weeks ago, as «slaves from the spoils of war with the infidels», as they have sold other women to group fighter thousand dollars per female, according to reports of the Syrian Observatory for Human rights.
The Sunni militants group has killed at least 3473 people including children and women , the majority of them Syrians since its declaration asIslamic State in Iraq and the Levant on April 9, 2013,according to the report of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, and distribution as follows:
The extremist group published photographs of victims who behead and representing them as they are «apostates» , «infidels» and « West Agents» .
The jihadist have used cluster munitions in period from on July 12 to August 14, at least in one location in Syria, according «Human Rights Watch« organization report issued Monday
The use of such ordnance leaves many unexploded bomblets on the battlefield, posing a serious risk to civilians long after hostilities have ceased.
